Re: any Cap 1 late payment removal success?

I've heard several different times, from different people that Cap1, is very difficult to work with in removing lates. One person said they've had luck with calling their back door # and talking to an acct. specialist, in getting one/some removed.

I'm about to venture down that path with them myself, later this month or next.

Re: any Cap 1 late payment removal success?

I'm going to be dealing with them soon myself. I've got a 90day late that I'm going to try and get off my report.  I've been paying my card off monthly now for the last year or so and have recently recieved a CLI from them, so hopefully that'll help.

Should I go the GW route first and then work my way up the phone ladder if that does not work? Any/all help would be appreciated

Re: any Cap 1 late payment removal success?

I am new to this site and I'm still learning from all the advice that has posted on this site. But, last week I disputed  with credit bureau 1- 30day late for my capital one card from 2004. Account has been paid and closed for two years and they removed the 30day late and it now shows closed/never late.

hope this helps.

Re: any Cap 1 late payment removal success?

yeah there seems to be some mixed opinions on how successful removal of lates from Cap1.  some of the posts that i have read on this board and others, have had successs sending GW's,PFD etc.to a specific address for Cap 1.

a recent post a few weeks ago, posted the actual letter from Cap 1 notify the sender  to the delete of the account due to "not on record".  I think his happens when you pay off and account (even less than agreed), and after 12-18 months they purge that info from the system, thus when you disoute or inquiry they have no record of the account, and therefore delete.

i used the address on the letterhead of that notification (different address than any other i have seen, posted and on record) to send my GW for delete of lates.  just havent heard back,  maybe i am too optomistic?

Probably was a good idea to NOT send GW's cmrrr. That kind of looks a bit hostile on the receiving end...

That is helpful xinl0707x, thanks for sharing that.  Awesome that they didn't remove the entire TL!

Nah, sometimes it takes a while.  Cap1 is so crazy to figure out how to fix... I suppose that's why we've begun a counter-intelligence faction here!  Seems to depend on so many personal factors on one's account.  How long ago did you send it?  I'd give it at least a month before I got antsy... 2 months before I resent.

Re: any Cap 1 late payment removal success?

I tried sending the GW to them and was shot down. Then, I tried called the Account Specialists number provided on another thread and gave them my absolute best sob story and was shot down escalating to 3 separate supervisors.

They gave me the number to the CEOs and I am going to try that one next.
Here we go again...
