I have an account I opened in 2006 that I closed in 2010. It was an account in good standing. I understand the 10-year thing. All three credit reports say "Last Updated 11/2017." Does this mean it will remain on my credit reports until at least 2027? If so, it would be a great thing, as it helps with my AAoA. Just curious.
I think "last updated" simply means that the lender is still actively reporting it. The bureaus say "up to 10 years," which means that there's no guarantee that the account will hang around. But sometimes people are lucky and the accounts stick for well over 10 years from closure.
