how much score do they take away when you ask for credit or loan? I'm just curious.

It depends on your cr . Thicker files usually lose less but then again if you have 5+ some have said inq's ding less ( thick or thin).

There is no fixed amount however you can contact a non-profit credit counseling agency and they will review your credit report with you. It is important to understand what factors affect your score and what weight those factors hold.
