hi guys,

what company provides good id theft insurance.

I am looking for something stand alone, not added to home owners or something.

any helpful tips regarding ID theft insurance would be great.

The FCRA itself provides pretty good identity theft "insurance", as section 605B permits a consumer to immediately get identity theft information blocked from their CR, and section 609(e) permits them to demand all internal business records of a creditor for which identity theft information has been reported.

The various services offer the ability to detect possible identity theft, and are thus very helpful, but the consumer can act immediately on removal without need for third party help. 

So, in my opinion,  a lot depends upon what the "insurance" offers that you cannot achieve by using the identity theft provisions of the FCRA.
