if you pay OC can the CA keep reporting?

If the Original Creditor will allow you to pay a debt that is in collections directly to them, does the CA have to take it off your report?

My wife has an outstanding school loan and the school will accept payments to them directly, but the CA is reporting it on the CR, can I dispute the it once we set up the payments with the school?
