Re: question about a returned check that was paid

Thanks momof2, but the thing is they are for the same check, listed 2 different ways on the CRs.
I believe I did pay this, but one CRA is reporting it as unpaid it looks like to me.
Should I GW this at all or just let it drop?  Dispute with EX who is showing it as unpaid?  Is it even really affecting my score at this point?
Just asking, I am trying to clean up my reports as much as I can.Smiley Indifferent

I would dispute it   it is due to drop in a few months so you might get lucky

Is this a CA account?

If so, I vote for leaving it alone and letting it drop when it's supposed to.  It is very old and not hurting that much.

Getting it marked as paid on EX will not help your score one bit.  FICO counts collections the same whether they are paid or unpaid.

Disputing it may have the unintended consequence of making FICO think it's more recent, and scoring it as such.

Re: question about a returned check that was paid

Thanks you guys.
I might just leave well enough alone.
With my luck FICO would probably rescore lower,  thinking it was more recent ,like you said cheddar.
Maybe I will concentrate my efforts on more recent baddies.
