quickest way to rebuild credit score

I guess I should say that I'm not officially closing my cc's completely, I'm just putting them at a zero balance.  Will this help me rebuild my score?  I just want to pay off all the cc's  and have them at a zero balance.  Maybe I'll use one here and there just to show some activity and to pay it on time of course.

You get a better score by keeping a total utilization between 1% and 9%. If you want to pay off most of your cards and only carry a balance on your lower APR cards that will be fine but I would not have all my cards at $0 because you aren't "playing the game".
