1st Time Mortgage with or without wife ??

Hi

My wife and I are in the process or getting our green cards but I anticipate this not happening for at least  more years.  We wish to get a house next year but my wife is here on a non working visa and was not given a social security number, she has little to no credit history and I have a good one (average 750's).

My question is would I be able to get a joint mortgage with her if she has no SSN, if we can, will her little credit historyring down the chnaces of getting a good mortgage product.  Do I have the option of getting the mortgage in just my name and transfernig the title to her jointly at a later date ?

If neither of you are residents or have green cards, it depends on your current VISA classifications.
