Sigh......I'm still waiting for mine to get out of review! Last update from the IRS said I should have some kind of response on 7/19/10. We will see!!!!! This makes week 22. I am way past annoyed!

That stinks Ky to still be waiting 22 weeks later after you started this thread!!!!.??.. I am waiting  too, but should only be 8/9 weeks wait -  I was told by IRS it was processed June 30th and (hopefully) check will be mailed July 16th ( they received all my paperwork May 20th I believe)  Sending you speedy  tax money vibes!!  

I let you know if mine shows up like that said it would!

Well I must have jinxed myself  I called IRS yesterday afternoon to see if the check actually would be mailed out 16th and the rep who answered asked me several questions, then put me on hold to check on my stuff. Came back 15 mins later and said well I can see it was processed June 29/30 and I see there is 8,000 dollars there but  "it looks stuck" * yes "stuck" his exact words!!! He goes on to say there is a code on it I am not familiar with so I want to check with some other people here, can I put you on hold? I'm like sure.... Well 22 minutes later he comes back and goes were looking in the code book and we can't seem to figure out this code ( HELLLOOO?!! WTH???!!!)  I think we better send this for review so there is something being done to either get you your check released or get you information on what you need to do to get it released, then he says did you receive any paperwork requesting anything? I said no - he goes yeah it looks like their not asking for anything - this is certainly odd -its just sitting in there!!! ( now I'm like can you just unstick it-- LOL )  and he said no, I can't- we need to send it for review - I need your day time phone # etc etc.  Someone will be in touch with you   ( OH NO those dreaded words -kinda like the checks in the mail!! ) he puts me on hold another 18 mins to send this review thing off !! So finally he gets back on the line -  then I go well how long does that take? and he goes we ask you to give them 30 days! He told me the review went to Philly even though I went thru Fresno office ( he said maybe work load is re-routing them) regardless,  I can see I will be calling every week to see what other song and dance I get!!  Wish me luck~  good thing I was not counting on the money  coming fast !!

I"m sorry to hear that tinkerfell. Thats how it all started for me with the review. Come Monday I will be calling the IRS to get my update. I figure I might have it by next tax season if I'm lucky!

Ky did you check in on Monday? I hope there was some better news for you, or at least some news of progress on getting your check!! I called back Monday and now  apparently everything is "fixed" and according to Ms. IRS rep the check is scheduled to be mailed this Friday July 23rd. I won't hold my breath! 

How can I go from a 30 day review with mystery "code" to one day later everything is fine?!!  I guess anything is possible with our Govt.

I'll keep posting till I get my check! I hope everyone else has smooth sailing in their refund journey-  should get easier as this credit phases out I would imagine.

Everyone should make sure they amended your address in the system when you call.  My check was supposed to be sent last friday but apparently to my old address - and the post office doesn't forward federal checks.  So praying the post office makes a mistake and forwards my check to my NEW address.  Ugh.

My husband and I were in the EXACT same spot. You would think if you were applying for the FTHB credit... geesh, you had a new home and that they might send it to the home you bought.. right? No.

I called a week and a half before ours was to be sent out and they said our new address was  not in their system and put in a change of address right then. He told me there was a SLIM chance that it might go to the new address. But that it could take up to 2 weeks for the address change to take affect in their system!  The first person I spoke with at the IRS told me they don't forward the checks. The second person I spoke with told me they did. I did go to our local post office and they told me that those checks ARE forwardable(is that a word? LOL). There is nothing on the front of them that says "do not forward". Low and behold, ours was forwarded. Ours was mailed out on Friday the 9th and we received it Wednesday the 14th.

So.. if you have a forwarding address in place, you should be fine!

So randomly went home at lunch today and guess what...forwarded check in the amount of $8045.72!  Approximately 5 weeks since I fedex'd the documents to the IRS.

Good luck everyone!  and yes, they forward checks!
