Re: 2009 FTHB Credit...lets track it!

Mine took 41/2 months, I finally spoke to a person who understood customer service at the IRS, ( imagine that will you?) she explained that in no uncertain terms every person whom applied for first time homebuyer credit was being reviewed with a magnifying glass, and that lots of fraudulent claims had been submitted, So while I did not like the long wait I am happy that they are watching over the fraudulent claims

be patient (easier said than done

Re: 2009 FTHB Credit...lets track it!

Yes! I can finally  say "I got my check !" It was sent out on July 23rd and in my mailbox on July 26th the right address even~ $8076.48.  I closed 5/3/10 - sent everything off 5/17 and so all and all not bad wait time - I was afraid i was stuck in review limbo after that one call- but apparently not!

Best of luck KY I sure hope you see your $ faster then they anticipate - keep us posted!

Call the IRS they always tell you not to call but when I called it seemed like it moved faster - then again its the govt! Smiley Tongue

Re: 2009 FTHB Credit...lets track it!

4/23/2010: Closed on home
4/28/2010: Mailed my amended return by certified mail
5/4/2010:  IRS confirms that they received return
6/21/2010: IRS reports that they have assigned my case
7/27/2010: Called IRS and still no update
7/30/2010: Called IRS and was advised that it was approved on 7/27/2010 but they didn't have a mail out date yet and the check would be $8046
8/1/2010: Called IRS and informed my check would be mailed out on 8/13/2010 for $8127. Check is coming from Andover, MA. I am located in CT so I should receive it probably by 8/16-8/17 if not sooner. It is sent out by regular mail.
Now remember I called and harassed IRS at least once a week and sometimes 2 time but finally I received word. I also called tonight to confirm they had correct address because I didn't want it to be helpdup any longer.

Check scheduled to be mailed out on 8/13/10

Received check in the mail yesterday 8/16/10

We filed an extension for our 2009 taxes so ours was not an amended return.  I also had our taxes done by a CPA and he attached form 5405, our HUD-1 settlement sheet and our Purchase and sales agreement.  Our taxes were processed through the Kansas City, MO office Smiley Happy

Re: 2009 FTHB Credit...lets track it!

First of all congrats to all you who have received your money!! I wish I could say the same.  Here is my time frame so far...

Closed 12/31/09

Sent Amended 2008 return on 1/19/10.  It included Form 1040X, Hud Stmt and Form 5405

IRS recvd ppwrk on 1/23/10

Called in February and was told to wait 12-14 weeks.

Called on the 12th week and was told to wait until the 14th week to call back.

Called several times in March and April.

Recvd a letter dated 5/14/10 needing more info.  Called on 5/17/10 to ask ?'s about the letter. In the mist of my conversation with the Rep, I told her at that very moment I was not staying in the home because I had found some black mold on one of my walls.(Big mistake)

5/17/10 and 5/18/10 - talked to several supervisors telling me I did not qualify for the credti because I was not occupying the property.  Later spoke to a Tax Advocate who told me that yes I did qualify for credit and to send in info to prove I bought the house.

5/20/10 - faxed 33 pages of proof that I bought and occupied property.

Between May and August I recvd several letters stating my claim was still being processed and they needed more time.

8/12/10 - 8/23/10 - spoke to seversal Tax Advocates telling me to send in Form 911 and fax over more docs.

8/23/10 - recvd letter stating IRS was disallowing my FTHB credit.  (they sent a form for me to sign stating that I agree with their decision. FUNNY!!!)

8/25/10 - faxed 33 pages of docs to my personal Advocate.

8/27/10 - faxed 27 pages of docs to the examiner who denied my claim.

As of today, I am still waiting for my FTHB credit.

Re: 2009 FTHB Credit...lets track it!

I'm still waiting as well.  Closed in June and sent off a 1040X which the IRS received around the 25th.

As of 15 October it will have been 16 weeks.   The last time I spoke to the IRS they told me to call back if I had not heard from them by the 15th.  So I call them back today and unfortunately there is still no information as to when I will receive the tax credit.   Smiley Mad

It's time for me to contact my congressman and tax advocate because as this point it seems like the IRS is giving me the run around.
