the senate is voting on the 15,000 amendment at 5:45 today.  I am watching on CSpan2

The vote on the Vitter amendment just concluded.

The Isakson amendment is the one that

covers raising the tax credit to 15k. That's

coming up very shortly.

If it has I'm glad. No one should get that much money (with no payback required) and expect the rest of the tax payers to flip the bill for them, especially if it doesn't apply to everyone being eligble for it.

The Senate approved the $15,000 tax credit.  You have to buy a home AFTER this amendment becomes law to receive up to $15,000.

I don't know if it is just me but Trons4u's post rubbed me wrong.  Why do you come into a mortgage forum telling home buyers I hope you don't the tax credit?  I am will be spending $50K buy my first house in 2 week (doing my part to help the economy! ).  This credit will help immensely to pad my reserves.  This credit will get some home buyers off the fence and help our deteriorating economy.  Anyhoo, done with the rant.
