I did my taxes a few months ago to get back my regular refund for closing. I close on Fri. My amended return is done and ready to mail as soon as I leave closing. It is a 1040X. Since I did my return on Turbo Tax, I was able to do the amended return on Turbo Tax and print to send. No electronic filing for amended returns. It was easy though.
I made an offer yesterday. I've increased my 401K contribution, which will hopefully decrease my MAGI enough so I will get the full $8K on next year's return. If I ammend this year, I calculated I'll only get $6700.
