AU rules out GUS auto-underwriting?

I read somewhere that being an AU on an account that you cannot prove to be a spouse automatically boots you to manual underwriting. Anyone know if that is true?

False in my case (FHA Loan, Academy Mortgage was lender).  She really encouraged me to get an AU going, but I couldn't as it wouldn't report, but that's not the point of your question.
