Appraisal in FHA loan approval question

I heard from our LO today that our loan application was in underwriting and sent for final approval.  She further explained that an appraiser was assigned.  Lastly she said that she expects the final approval tomorrow.  From reading these forums, I'm confused.  Seems that people have their appraisals done for some time before the mortgage is approved?  Can it be approved prior to the appraiser going out to the home?  Or was there a chance that they did it today?

Any thoughts?

She may have meant "Approved With Conditions".  That's the status when everything else has been approved and they're waiting for the the home to meet the value needed for the loan.  If the appraisal meets or exceeds the value expected, all is well.
