Authorized User??

Desperately trying to get my score up, and have begun the process of picking up the trash of the last 10 years. Feel like such a jerk.. :-(

Quick question: Is becoming an authorized user on my dad's CC still a viable solution? I do have one new Cap 1 CC and I have 2 1/2 years of car payments that have been perfect.

Is a hard inquiry generated when one becomes an authorized user? Hard Inquiry for ME, not my dad.. :-)

Thanks for any intel. You all are awesome and I have leaned SOOO much so far!!

Re: Authorized User??

IME there is no hard pull when beckming an AU.
I was added to my husband's CC in October and it showed up in November like it was always on there. Perfect payments and low utilization since 5/2008!

Re: Authorized User??

No INQ as mentioned becoming an AU.

Impact on scores depends on how the account has been handled by your dad.

Re: Authorized User??

Thanks for the info. Dad is 780 or something. They just RF their house so it is recent.

Any drawbacks/negatives for becoming an AU?
