Back Taxes

Can anyone tell me how to get rid of a tax lein in my public records, and is there a tax lawyer that you can recommend?

Re: Back Taxes

are the taxes paid off now?  That is the only way to get the tax lien removed.

Re: Back Taxes

No not paid off yet but will be soon, it doesn't appear to have effected my score. Why is this?

Re: Back Taxes

If it is listed as a public record it should have affected your score IMO - paid or unpaid, has the same effect as well.

Re: Back Taxes

Tax Lien shows up for me too but mine is definitely paid off.. I'm curious at the implication that it is possible to get them removed before they expire naturally off the CR?

Re: Back Taxes

I would be curious on this too.  I know the creditor has to get them removed, you can''t (any public record).  Some companies will and some will not.  I am not sure how the IRS is on this stuff.
