Can you change the mortgage after being approved?

I have been conditionally approved for a 30-year fixed mortgage with 20% down and was wondering if I could modify the mortgage to put less down and pay PMI in one lump sum. Does anyone know if this is possible and how long it would take the lender to approve the modified mortgage?

Yes you can do this - it's not set in concrete until you close and sign the paperwork.

Just contact your LO and tell him what you want to do. He will have to resubmit to u/w but since you have all the info supplied and have been approved it shouldn't take long at all.

The loan officer was able to change the terms for my mortgage in 3 days. Thanks for your helpful information! Smiley Happy
