Closing Identification

My wife is Filipino.  We've been married since 12/15, but she's only been here since 9/17.  We close on our home on 3/23/18.  Green card has been issued, mailed but returned to sender, and will eventually be re-mailed (who knows when that will happen...most likely after we close).  Without the greencard, there is no state issued identification card.  She has no credit file.  Only received SSN last week.  So, will we be able to close in Texas?

Thanks!

Re: Closing Identification

Is she on the loan? Just put her in Title later if that is your intent. Her Passport is valid ID but you better get her address & Green Card fixed ASAP. They don’t mess around any more and the wrong address for Green Card holders is a big deal. My Brother in Law nearly lost his chance to become a US Citizen last summer (been in US since he was 11 is now 50) due to not making sure his address was always current.

Re: Closing Identification

Yes.  It's no joke. We updated the address the day after she arrived.  Unfortunately, when you call in and update the information isn't immediately forwarded or updated in the production facility system.  So, even though it went out months after the update was made, it went to the old address.  What a mess!

Thanks for the information!

Re: Closing Identification

No.  She is not on the loan.  It's a VA loan.  Not sure what the mortgage company and the title company require!  But, Texas is a community property state!  Who knows what's about to happen!!
