Closing Time (bad)

I just got an email from the builder asking if it would be okay if we schedule the "New Home Acceptance" meeting for Feb 6th and the closing for Feb 8th.

Feb 8th!!!!!! Unbelievable! I pushed back and said our LO told us to schedule the move for the 4th or 5th. The 8th is too close to a possible court date and/or forced eviction. So obviously, I requested an earlier date. Not sure if they will move it up or not. Smiley Sad Ugh!

Sorry Moving.  Perhaps it was mentioned in a different post and I missed it.  I've been trying to follow your journey. However, did the landlord have you served with Court papers or did she only send you a letter she wrote herself?

Re: Closing Time (bad)

She only sent me the letter she wrote. I haven't received anything from an attorney yet. My lawyer is sending a letter to her that requires a response from her before she can move forward with the eviction. The letter my attorney wrote is written exceptionally well and states all the facts.

I found out from my realtor that the builder told him Jan 30th. And now the builder is saying Feb 8th. I finally called my realtor back after ignoring his calls for 3 days because I thought he lied to me about the closing date. This is just too unreal! And to top it off, the home has extremely high Radon levels...12 PCi/L when it should be under 2 PCi/L. The risk of lung cancer is equivalent 200x the probability of dying in a house fire according to www.epa.gov. There is a sump pit in the basement and the contractor said the house can be easily ventilated because of that. But my realtor is going to talk to the builder about it tomorrow to see if they will correct the problem. Smiley Sad
