Could current status of student hurt my chances to buy home?

I am currently a full time student in a relatively recession proof field (healthcare related) I graduate in about 6 months. At that time my husband and I will make a combine income of roughly $110k annually. I will have no problem getting a job and will have my pick of jobs, thankfully. My question is, at what point will a bank count my new income in order to qualify? I don't want to wait another one to two years at that point to buy our first home. My husband has been supporting our family on his own pretty much for the last two years. His income does not allow us to qualify for much at $50k a year. Also our fico will be around the 650 range at that point I think with maybe 10k to put down fha or va.

Re: Could current status of student hurt my chances to buy home?

Hi there, congratulations on your upcoming graduation! Smiley Happy

Our LO told us 30 days after i start employment. People on these forums have said it actually only requires one paycheck.

I don't know how long you've been in school or if that matters but my situation is regarding a traditional 2 year degree. I was told the 2 years in school count as work history and they require a minimum of 2 years work history.

Oh that is fantastic! I have been working part time but finally will need to quit for the Fall. I was so worried that I would have to have two years of that income for it to count.

Thank you very much. It has been a long hard road and our credit has taken some hits due to trying to raise a family and go to school, but I think it will be well worth it in the end.

Typically a letter showing the offer of employment and a paystub and you should be good to go...this is assuming it is a salaried type position (you're not going to be a PRN RN or anything similar are you?)
