FHA and Tax Documents

Hi...What exactly are they looking for when they ask for the past two years of IRS tax documents? Is it an audit?   Thanks!

Re: FHA and Tax Documents

They are looking for additional proof your W2s are legit, as well as unreimbursed business expenses, and other tax issues that reduce the income that they can use in figuring out your DTI.

It is not an audit. They aren't really looking at if your taxes are correct beyond what applies to figuring out your gross income for qualification purposes.
