I had a foreclosure last year on 02-Jun-14 and received a 1099-A. Hopefully this year it will be a 1099-c.
The deed didn't transfer until September 30th due to numerous upset bids.
There is one year (Statue of Limitations) from the sale date that a bank in my state can seek to get a deficiency judgement, but what date is the starting point?
Is it June 02 or September 30th?
I have heard both.
On my 1099-A Box 1 lists 02-Jun and the public records show the deed transferring to the new owner/bank Sept 30.
