How much credit scores hit for a LO hard pull?

While still aggressively paying down my CC debt (currently around 73% UTL), I'm almost ready to leap and find out if I can obtain a mortgage or not. Going VA and my mid-score is probably right at the 620 mark now. I'll have a $20,000 gift from step-father of which I don't want to use more than $10,000. I'd like to have that reserve for other expenditures for the house. Just curious to know, in anyone's experience, how much of a hit will the credit score take for a LO hard pull? I plan to do 3-4 within a two-week period, but just a little worried because the scores are borderline right now.

Sooooo--how many points did you lose after the LO pull?

Personally for me it was 2 or 3 points with the scoring system in place in 2004, I had only 2 inquiries in the previous 12 months, and scores were around 715 at the time, think it went down to a 713 or 712.  Right after the mortgage reported I noticed another drop, it was more significat, almost 10 points I want to believe.  Within 4 months the score was higher than it was before I got the mortgage though.
