If you only knew then what you know now...

For those of you that have already achieved the goal of becoming homeowners, what one lesson really sticks out in your mind? We're finally under contract with the inspection happening later this week & I'm hoping to (again) learn from your experiences. What do you know now that you wish you knew during the process of purchasing your home? Thanks, folks!

That is a brilliant question. I would have told myself to just relax! Seriously the stress was soooo bad...and don't be so paranoid about everything. I constantly ran everything in my mind, nit picking, and worrying.

Other than that just make sure you're ready. Have your ducks in a row and the process is very smooth.

I was fortunate to have a fantastic LO and document specialist. When we started the process a couple of times before the LO's we worked with were non responsive and I could tell early on this wasn't going to work. My one recommendation is to make sure you can communicate with your LO. If you can't be honest with them then you need to find someone you can be...or realize yourself that you need to be upfront about things.

Other than that I would have been on our builders behind a little bit more. They did a crappy final cleaning and we are seeing more and more little things that will need touching up. They will be back in 60 days and they are going to be busy.

Patience is a virtue.. that will be in very short supply. Be kind to your significant other, they're going through all the stress and worry too.

Buy stock in your local home improvement store.. Smiley Wink
