Joining DCU bad idea during purchasnig a home?

Hi,

I just put in an offer to buy my first home and am anticipating going on an app spree in 6 weeks when I close for a home improvement cc, furniture cc and one more credit card that will hopefully give me a high limit of $10k or more. So I heard about DCU and was thinking of joining membership now so in 6 weeks I can apply for one of their credit cards, but i know they do a HP on EQ when applying for membership...didn't know if that was a good idea since i'll be underwriting soon..

any tips on my goal?

Don't apply for anything until you're past closing.  Adding an inquiry to your file could affect your score.
