Mortgage FICO Scores and FICO scores

My Experian FICO score is 593 and the mortgage Score is 609.  Which score is used when applying for a mortgage?

The mortgage score, but the score that is used is the middle score among your mortgage scores from the three bureaus.

My transunion FICO uses FICO 2 and Experian uses FICO 4.  What is the difference, and is this common?

It should be that your Experian mortgage score is FICO 2 and your TU score is 4. This methodology is not only common, but standard, in credit analysis by mortgage lenders. See:

"In the mortgage industry (new mortgage loans and refinancing of existing mortgages), the following base FICO® Score versions are prominently used:

• FICO® Score 5 based on Equifax data
• FICO® Score 2 based on Experian data
• FICO® Score 4 based on TransUnion data

Note, these versions may sometimes be referenced as Equifax Beacon 5.0, Experian/Fair Isaac Risk Model v2 and TransUnion FICO Risk Score 04."
