Mortgage Inquiries

How long do mortgage inquiries stay on a credit report?  I shopped mortgage rates last January during a 12 day period.  I had heard that they would stick for about 4-6 months and drop because it is viewed as a one time event.  Any truth?

Like any inquiry they will stay on your reports for 2 years. Being close together and if coded correctly they count as "one" in FICO scores. The effect of them on your scores is reduced after 6 months.
