New loan on the purchase of home to remodel?

Just purchased a new home less than 6 months ago and want to remodel kitchen. Is there a way to pull a loan on the house to update the kitchen? Cost of the home was 200k loan current loan amount is 203k but the value of the home would go up after remodel. Is it possible to get funds through the house? Just wondering if this is an option.

Re: New loan on the purchase of home to remodel?

Banks have specific loan to value (LTV) requirements for HELOC, for example, if your home loan is 90% of your total home value (LTV), the HELOC may not be available, but if youru LTV is 70% or less for example, there is "meat on the bone" for a HELOC. As a new mortgagee you are perhaps in the former category of a high LTV but you di dnot say your specifics of your home loan. Maybe you put 80% down instead of 10%, we don't know. Barring the above HELOC, which is what you were thinking, the personal loan for like $50,000 or whatever is an option, bu that depends on your income and credit history etc etc
