I applied for my pre-approval mortgage with USAA a couple of days ago and had not heard from them until today. I was getting a bit discouraged about it to be honest. And then today I received an email stating that it would need to be forwarded to another department. I took this to mean DENIED. About an hour later, I got another email from the same person and it starts like this -
Thank you for your email. Congratulations! You're conditionally pre-approved for a mortgage loan with the following terms:
Purchase price: $390,000.00
Loan amount: $351,000.00
Approval expires: Monday, April 8, 2013
I am literally on the floor in shock! USAA is the greatest! I know that it's only a conditional approval but that is a better result than I had anticipated!
Still waiting on the follow-up email that says "Sorry - wrong person" ha

Thank you all! Still got a ways to go before its all finished but at least I feel more positive about it now! Before, I was always concerned with "can I get approved?" or "is my credit good enough?" I have read many different home mortgage journeys in here and now, maybe I can contribute my story. My son is more excited than I am cause he can finally get his own bedroom! ha
My little boy is so excited too! When he first saw the new house, he ran upstairs and claimed his bedroom by lying down on the carpet. I love to make him happy! Congrats again!!!
