Building has been underway for a little over a month now and we're about two months away from completion. Currently, the framing, roofing and HVAC is already done. This week they're doing all of the electrical. We are in the DFW area and decided to build with Meritage Homes. The price is a little on the high side ($269k), but we closed our eyes and went for it because we wanted this to be our first and last home. My wife and I are very excited and can't wait to move!
UPDATE: Our loan has been approved! Now we're just waiting on our conditions.
We locked in our rate today at 3.375%. 4/2/13
Yeah. This seems to be an issue with MTH. There was another thread last week from someone using them with the same complaints (I believe they were in the HOU area)... I am building with Meritage and using MTH also, in the Denver area though. I have not heard a peep from my LO in close to a month now. We have our drywall meeting tomorrow and should be closing by the 1st of May. It is really annoying that she cannot be bothered to reply to an email, even a quick sentence saying not to worry about whatever at this time would suffice. I just keep trying to remember, I know she is crazy busy right now, and they have taken care of us when it was crunch time to get approved. When I DO communicate with her she is friendly, super thorough and very helpful. The last thing they want is to build this house and then have to deny us and find a buyer for an inventory home.
Kinda frustrated today. For the past month, we'd been working on getting all disputes off of our report. When we pulled our consumer reports (Credit Check Total), all dispute comments had been removed. So we gave our LO the clearance to go ahead and re-pull our reports. MTH uses Credco reporting, which is a super-fancy credit report. It still has these disputes on there and now he says he won't be able to re-pull again until April 1st! We are scheduled to close on May 8th and I don't want deal with UW and approvals at the very last minute.
I don't know what other route I can take. I've asked our LO which bureaus still show the disputes. It's hard to identify looking at the Credco report. I'm just baffled because our consumer reports do not show any dispute comments, but their report does. I figure that once the bureaus update the reports, it would read the same everywhere.
Just heard back from our LO and our loan has been approved. Now we are waiting to hear back from UW to get our conditions! I think I'm starting to get excited now!
I think I may call him back to confirm this isn't some sort of April Fool's joke!
We are locked in at 3.375%.
Looking at a May 15th closing!
