I posted something about my issues with AFNI recently and really am desperate for advice and you all are experts. We are SO CLOSE to getting pre approved for a house we need a 640 and are at 630 (posting from my wifes account, the mortgage will be in my name as I bring in the income) we hired a credit specialist 6 months ago and went from a 580 to now a 630. We have our 5% down payment and everything!!! We only have 1 thing holding us back that we desperately need taken care of and that is AFNI for an old AT&T account! It just posted last summer and we must have this deleted not just updated as settled but i have sent 3 emails to AFNI already and the latest one stating that this account belonged to my x-wife and I am not liable but wanting to PFD to get it over with and this is what the lastest respone was...
Dear Jason,
Thank you for your inquiry. We have received your dispute and are investigating. We will contact you in writing with the results. In addition, the account will be reported to all 3 major credit reporting agencies as closed and settled in full once a settlement payment posts; as we do not exchange credit deletions for payments

Does this mean they will just send out a letter validating the debt? I sent yet another email stating that I am not willing to negotiate here that it must be deleted not settled/or updated. I was very polite and now I am beyond frustrated! We could get preapproval as soon as the end of the month but we have this 1 account holding us back So what do we do? Keep sending PFD'S or call them, make a payment and settle??? Or call them and request a PFD? Or send a letter via U.S mail? I'm lost and feel stuck that this 1 account is holding us back!
