Potential dumb question about lates and applying for a mortgage

I have a question that's probably a simple yes, but I thought I'd ask anyway.  I have a First Premier credit card that was charged off in September of 2007 (I know.Stupid) and ever since then it's been showing 90 days late ever since. Are those lates considered lates in the same way that me not paying a current and open credit card or bill of some sort is a late?  On my Fico it doesn't seem to *know* that those are lates when it talks about my last late payment. I know that a charge off is worse than a late, but will those lates count against me in the *12 months of no lates* realm of getting a new mortgage?  Anyone know?

We will go by the charge off date.

No different than if a new collection agency buys one of your debts. We can see thru the mis-reporting.

Also, is this a late that can be explained away more easily than a *real* late?
