Re: Update Preparing to start VA loan process

congrats.......what did you have to take to get approved?   As I am also trying to see if I should start the VA process now, or wait for a year so I can try to get in the 700's for my credit score.

Re: Update Preparing to start VA loan process

You don't require 700s for a VA loan.  IIRC, 650-ish will qualify.

Re: Update Preparing to start VA loan process

Credit score does not matter at some banks for VA. Some have tiers and some do not. if your serious about getting a home ask around to different lenders.

Re: Update Preparing to start VA loan process

Most lenders will verify if you're eligible through the VA. I was always asked did I have my certificate and said no. They just requested it on my behalf. So this isn't a major issue to overcome.

Re: Update Preparing to start VA loan process

I finally found a house I like.

Made offer July 24,

Offer accepted July 25.

Loan APP July 25.

VA Appraiser saw home July 30.

We had a home inspection August 5.

Finally got VA appraisal August 13.

Underwriter approved August 16 with 2 minor conditions (Proof earnest money check cleared and telling them about a refund from a loan payment that was refunded to me after I paid off 401K loan..it showed on my paystub).

Closing is scheduled for September 9...one day after my birthday and the day before my 25th wedding anniversary!

Hey Romney, I am about to go through the process for a VA Loan.  Credit is just slightly under 600, so I am working on that.

What lender did you go through?
