Proof of funds question

My husband recently switched jobs, and we need to move. He will be getting a check for 14,000 from his old job for his saved up vacation time. We have been told to expect it around the 15th of next month. We have a letter from the HR dept of his old job detailing this. We are planning on using this money for FHA down payment and closing costs. Would the letter be enough to show that we have the down payment or do we need to wait until we have the check in hand? (His previous employer was the State of Oklahoma, so there is no chance of them going bankrupt or not paying him this money.)

Re: Proof of funds question

save the letter.... but a copy of the check would be enough. just make sure you deposit the entire amount into one account so it matches.... you can transfer some or all of it to other accounts the next day
