I am in the process of getting all my ducks in a row for a pre approval for an FHA loan I now rent a place but I have been paying cash every month for the last 3 years . I have read on the forum's they will ask for old rent checks . So for the last two months I have been paying by check and will continue to in the future. But how big of a deal is this will and will this cause me not to get a mortgage ..

Depends on your score. If you are over a certain score (640?) they won't verify rent. I provided my LO with 12 months canceled checks and he said he didn't need them (660 fico).
