Should I lock in my rate?

I was given an interest rate of 4.5%. Should I go ahead and lock it in?

Thanks,

Re: Should I lock in my rate?

When is your closing scheduled to actually close?

How would you feel if the rate went up 1/2% and you weren't locked?

Re: Should I lock in my rate?

My contract says Nov. 18th. But we still have not had an inspection completed because the house has not been made available. Which keeps pushing my closing date out. I would be upset if it went up. The loan officer stated that we would definitely close within 60 days.

Thanks,

Re: Should I lock in my rate?

When I got my rate of 4.25% I didn't lock right away since I was deciding on if we should take a higher rate for more money form seller at closing but decided against. When I called a few hours later to lock in at the 4.25 my LO said rates had already gone up .25 %, but he would still lock me in at 4.25.

So I'm glad you locked now Smiley Happy

Re: Should I lock in my rate?

So I was curious as to why the loan officer did not contact me about locking in my rate. Especially since I emailed her the information yesterday. Well I just got off the phone with her. She said that she did not receive my email. She checked her junk folder and there it was. MY EMAIL. So she checked rates and I just locked in a 4.375%... <--- Yes, I did!!! I have to bring $400 more to the closing table but its worth it.

Who rocks??? This girl rocks!!!!

Thanks everyone!!!!

Re: Should I lock in my rate?

I locked in my rate at 4.000% without hesitation because my LO told me the 3.xxxx % market rate was long gone. I am due to close on 11/11 and am glad I did.
