please help! i went to my county clerk's website to retrieve a mortgage document from a previous loan and noticed the document below on my current loan and listed as a "mortgage document". what is this and should i be concerned? my name is the mortgagor and i'm not familiar with the mortgagee. i'm so worried! thank you for your help!
The mortgagee would be the lender. Are you saying you don't recognize the lender?
Is it possible there were unpaid real estate taxes on the property?
In some states, the taxing authority can sell a tax sale certificate (usually at auction). The buyer acquires the right to, by following certain procedures, obtain title to your property. In other states the jurisdiction simply conducts a "tax sale" of the property.
You may have limited rights to redeem the property from the buyer of the tx certificate. You need to put a priority on looking into this, and may need a real estate attorney.
