Wow, awesome! How long did it take for them to mail it? I didn't even think about the prospect of interest...sweet!

How did the interest come into play?

I didn't think about interest either. They said you get interest backdated to when you filed. We filed on June 1 and they received it in the Philadelphia office on June 4.

Re: The IRS mailed our $8,000 check today!

I thought this had to be filed in conjunction with your tax return after you closed on the house? So did you file $8000 credit separately from your 2008 tax return?

Grill Master now has a house! Closed 8/26. Yay!

Re: The IRS mailed our $8,000 check today!

You can claim with your 2009 taxes or you can amend your 2008 return which is what most people seem to be doing Smiley Happy

Re: The IRS mailed our $8,000 check today!

DKJay,

I'm confused.   I thought per the http://federalhousingtaxcredit.com/2009/glance.php   the refund was only 10% of the purchase price.  Did you really get the $8,000 check?  Am I missing something with this tax credit law?
