Re: The Official NACA mortgage thread

From volunterring at a number of workshops, I'd say the advice is npot to do anything except gather every one of the required items for your first meeting.  Don't try to deal further with collection items or other delinquencies until you've reviewed your baseline situationb with your counselor.

Re: The Official NACA mortgage thread

Hi everyone.  I've been a lurker for years, and I heard about naca years ago as well.  I finally went to a workshop in NY on 3/17/12.  While awaiting my ID number, I was called on 3/30 to make an intake appt.  I got an appt for the next week on 4/6.

Thanks to the boards, I went there with every piece of financial documentation with my name on it.  I also uploaded most of it which turned out to be a time-saver as it prevented me from having to come back for a 2nd intake appt.

I was concerned about the lates on my report, however, I only had to provide a LOE for one account as the rest were over 2 years old.  Today my counselor asked for more documents, which I'm sure I gave to him on Friday, but, again, thanks to reading the boards, I was prepared for this.  I sent them without hesitation.

I'm in no rush to find my home.  It would be nice to have it by the holidays though.  In the meanwhile, a big thank you to everyone who shared their stories, asked questions and vented their frustrations.  You all have helped someone during this long journey.

Re: The Official NACA mortgage thread

Super, yes, I went on April 6.  My counselor is Hervey.  So far he has been really good with returning emails promptly.  I made a follow-up appt with him before I left.  I'll see him again on April 20.

Re: The Official NACA mortgage thread

Good luck to you. I got started back in 2010. My intake was with Kenneth. I was a long process but I finally got qualified.

CONGRATS Chasmith!!!  Smiley Very Happy

I still remember the feeling when I heard "clear to close" two years ago!  It is especially sweet to close after going thru the process with NACA but I think the process made me a better and more informed homeowner!

I wish you many blessed days in your new home!!
