Totally different Scoring?!

Totally different Scoring?!

...so we checked our credit scores and they seemed average (in the mid-700s) and we started looking for a new house.
We get with a loan officer and he tells us that the scores he's pulling up are way lower, like in the 600s!!
Why are they soooo different?

He tells me what we got was probably a consumer credit report and what they pull up is a 7/yr FICO Model. What's the difference?

Help us out please because we're mortified!

Thanks!

Where did YOU pull your scores from? That could make a world of a difference.

Re: Totally different Scoring?!

I pulled them from the transunion site. :-/ I went through annualreport.com!
Was that wrong?
I just pulled them up from experian, again, all 3, and thru them I am seeing lower scores...
I'm so confused! Smiley Sad

Re: Totally different Scoring?!

Going through annualcreditreport.com gives you your free credit report, but more than likely, the scores you picked up are FAKO scores... specially since I see that you pulled the scores from Experian.

If you want your true TU and EQ fax, I suggest you use the links from myFICO to get them.

Unfortunately, it seems that you didn't get your true scores.

Note, the EQ score you get here is likely going to be the exact same score the lender is using.  Unfortunately, the TU score is an older version called TU98.  Most mortgage lenders are using TU04.  There is no known place (that I am aware of) where you can get your TU04 score except through a lender.

If you just got your scores from a lender, there's really no need to go buying scores elsewhere.  You should be able to get a copy of the report and scores that the lender pulled.  Those should be accurate.

Starting Score: ~500 (12/01/2008)
Current Score: EQ 681 (04/05/13); TU 98 728 (01/06/12), TU 08? 760 (provided by Barclay 1/2/14), TU 04 728 (lender pull 01/12/12); EX 742 (lender pull 01/12/12)
Goal Score: 720
