I would try a credit union, too, especially if there is one you currently do business with and you are a familiar face. They will sometimes be a little more lenient. If you choose to use a credit union, you may have to open a savings account there. This is not a big deal because you could open it with as little as $5 in most cases. Also, they have other ways you can lower your rate e.g., automatic draft and direct deposit. Good luck with your auto loan shopping!
