VA Preapproval

My question is to get Pre-approved do you have to use a Realtor or can you go directly to the VA

So if we were not looking for at least 6 months we would know the amount of a Home Loan when we would start looking

Thanks

Re: VA Preapproval

Realtors are a special designation a licensed real estate agent can obtain.  Realtor's help people buy the home, they aren't involved in the pre-approval process.  VA guarantees loans made by lenders under the guidelines that VA puts forth, VA does not directly lend any money to consumers for mortgage home loans.  Loan officers, at a bank or from a mortgage brokerage firm, would be the people that help you determine what you can qualify for by helping you through the pre-approval process.
