What is involved in aading a spouse later to a mortgage?

spouse currently laid off and i am approved for a mortgage. Financially, i can afford the payments and the other house bills. Now, if i buy on my own, can I at a later date add my spouse on the mortgage after she has secured a job? would we need to refinance to add her name? What are the procedures of doing this? Any help would be appreciated.

you could just deed 1/2 interest to her if you arent in a community property state(where spouses always go on title). isnt that good enough?

I agree with Dallas.  You don't need her on the mortgage now or later, you can put her on the title which gives her interest in the home, but not on the mortgage.
