We lived right on the edge of the Rice Canyon & Poomacha Fires during the fires out here in CA last year (have moved since then) and there was lots of speculation that some residents were trying to help the fires along, or start fires that weren't viable to get out of their foreclosed homes. Haven't heard much about it since, but there were definitely a few fires that didn't quite "make sense."
