When people with two different FICO scores apply for a mortgage...

Hi all,

I have a score in the low to mid 700s and my fiancee has a FICO score of 809. When we apply for a mortgage will the bank average the two to determine the rate we qualify for? Do they just look at the lower score?

I'm a bit confused and any help will be appreciated!

Lenders will take the middle score of your three scores if apping alone and the lower of the two middle FICO scores if apping jointly.

Correct. Before considering apping for a mortgage, you'd want to pull all 3 FICO reports for both you and spouse.
