Where do you suggest applying for a Mortgage Loan? Credit Union or Bank??

Hi there, Looking for advice on where my husband and I should apply for our first mortgage loan. 

We currently bank with a credit union. His credit score per Credit karma is 723, and mines in the 600s range. We plan to apply for a mortgage loan within 5-6 months. I've been hearing mixed things about credit unions for mortgage loans. Any advice/thoughts would be so greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!

The very first thing is to research all about FICO scoring and mortgage lending.  Credit Karma does not use FICO scoring at all. No one uses the scores that Credit Karma shows for mortgage lending.  Credit Karma scores are Vantage scores.
