The subscription for $29.xx is offered through myfico, does not need to be purchased through groupon.

Yes, the least expensive way is to sign up for the myFICO that includes 1 3B report (anually I believe) and includes monitoring. This will give you access to the 3B report with the mortgage scores.

Cancel the service before the next renewal (within the month).

The Ultimate service for $29.95 gives you quarterly 3B reports and monitors for changes.

If you have the monitoring at any level I believe you can order as many 3B reports for around $48.

Or the Premier 3B gives you monthly 3B reports and monitoring for $39.95/month.

So you only get score updates every 3 months? If that's the case you would be better off buying the one time report every 3 months and save $30. I just ordered the 3b monitoring thinking your reports only updated quarterly but scores would update in real time. I hope I'm misunderstanding, otherwise it's a rip since I use CK for changes in my report.
