Who pays the appraisal?

I just received an email from my LO requesting a check for $300.00 for the appraisal. It's listed on the GFE for $430.00.  Will I be billed twice?  Is this standard procedure?

sounds like they are asking for a deposit. i do this for my clients..... hold a check until it can be determined that the appraiser is paid on the hud1 settlement statement.

buyer pays the appraisal.
