I settled 4 debts, 3 with Capio (medical) and one with Jefferson Capital (tribute card) , I have been sending and faxing goodwill letters to try to get the removed from my credit report with no luck. Today the mortgage company ran my credit again (it was high enough!!!) and it says that all accounts were settled on the report but is noting a dispute for all 4 accounts. I am sure that I never disputed them..any ideas?? Also, if I get the dispute notation removed will this cause a drop in my score even though they are all paid? Thanks!!

Yes, it is possible your score will drop when the dispute notations are removed. It would be better if you could get the collections deleted entirely (if possible).
if the account is 'in dispute' then it wasnt considered in the fico score. taking it out of dispute would likely lower score.
if it is just notated as disputed..... it was included in the original fico score so sccores should not move.
strange things happen though.... but this is how it is supposed to work.
i only had one person ever lose points by removing disputes. and he later admitted that it was really an active dispute and not a comment.... so i feel pretty sure you will be ok.
I've lost about 14 points from Equifax and about 18 points from TransUnion by removing the dispute status & comments. I didn't see any change in Experian...not sure why?
