it was a very pleasant experience. the sellers were so nice. we were sitting around the table talking and cracking jokes the entire time! and the best part is that at the last minute the title company required the bank to pick up fees that we were supposed to cover and we ended up with a $3800 refund from our closing check. (i wonder if it helped that my lawyer was friends with the title agent and they talked a couple of times in private as the fees were being calculated
)
we went to the house after closing and a bunch of neighbors came out and introduced themselves. what a world of difference; i've been living in my place for over 3 years and only 3 neighbors have ever talked to me!
i want to thank everyone on here who gave me wonderful advice and things to think about, as well as those who commisserated with the anxiety of a home purchase.
now i'm off to finish packing up and cleaning my apartment... and i thought getting a mortgage would be the difficult part!
